The main issue is this is a bad bill, a bad bill for our country. It's going to create great debt. And it's perverse in the sense that it gives some 83% of the tax cuts to the wealthiest in America.
In their headlong rush to jam their partisan and unpopular tax legislation through Congress, Republicans wrote a bill that hadn’t even been read carefully enough to ensure it complied with Senate procedural rules. 
Mr. Speaker, history will indeed remember this vote.  Future generations of Americans will remember who cast their votes to raise taxes on 86 million middle-class households and heap another $1.5 trillion in deficits onto our children and grandchildren. They will remember who cast their votes for a plan that gives 83% of its benefits to 1% of the American people.
Today, Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer joined House Democrats from 18 of the 21 states targeted by Russian hackers in 2016 in calling on House Speaker Paul Ryan to take immediate action to protect state voting systems from cyberattacks and to bolster state election infrastructure.
Today, by rejecting the nomination of Scott Garrett, the Senate Banking Committee made it clear that Congress will not allow the Export-Import Bank to be sabotaged from within.
I have one: oh the leadership inside is frightful… let them stay, let them stay, let them stay.
Just when we thought the Republican tax bill couldn’t get any worse, changes made to get wavering Republicans back on board have resulted in a bill that will raise taxes on 86 million middle-class households and provide 83% of its tax cuts to the top 1%. 
The National Security Strategy announced by President Trump today highlights the disconnect between this Administration’s rhetoric and the reality of his presidency.
I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and injuries as a result of today’s derailment of an Amtrak train in Washington.
