As we mark the eighty-eighth anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birth, let us draw on his inspiring legacy to guide us through the challenges of our present day.
I hope the Senate has reached some agreement, I don’t know what’s in the agreement. I know that Senator Durbin and Senator Graham had been working very hard, along with a number of their colleagues, on trying to reach an agreement to protect the DREAMers.
Iran continues to oppress its people and threaten Israel and the region.
President Trump’s comments are racist and a disgrace.
I look forward to reviewing the details of the reported deal to ensure it protects DREAMers and does not harm unrelated immigration policy areas that should instead be part of a comprehensive immigration reform package.

[Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senator Dick Durbin, Senator John Cornyn, and myself] believe central to any action that we take is the protection of the DREAMers, making sure that they stay here in this country, the only country that they really know, and a policy that is supported by the overwhelming majority of the American public and I would suggest apparently supported [by President Trump] he was articulating his support of that with [Senator] Dianne Feinstein.

Today’s meeting at the White House was a positive step forward in that everyone in the room agreed that we must take action on DACA immediately; however, the statement issued by the White House is inaccurate.
The President’s decision to end temporary protected status for 200,000 Salvadorans who have sought refuge in this country is both misguided and dangerous.
