WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the Amtrak train derailment outside Olympia, Washington:
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and injuries as a result of today’s derailment of an Amtrak train in Washington. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and I join in commending the first responders who are working tirelessly on the scene to save lives. It is tragedies like this one that remind us that we are one American family – and that we must come together to support those who have lost loved ones in their hour of grief as neighbors and fellow Americans.”
