Freddie Gray and his family deserve justice, and the charges filed today by the State's Attorney in Baltimore show that there is a process moving forward to investigate fully and thoroughly what happened.  

Once again, House Republicans are using the appropriations process to score political points and send a message to their base by advancing funding bills that continue the disastrous sequester policy and that include partisan policy riders that would be disastrous for our country.

We write to you in order to request that the House take up a long-term surface transportation funding bill when it returns from the May district work period.

I join in marking the beginning of Jewish American Heritage Month, which is celebrated each May throughout our country. 

Throughout the month of May, we celebrate the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who have helped build and strengthen our nation throughout its history.

I am disappointed that House Republicans passed a resolution this evening disapproving of a law to protect workers in the District of Columbia from discrimination based on personal health care decisions.

I joined with many other Members to oppose this year’s Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bill out of a deep concern that it does not adequately fund the needs of our nation’s veterans, while using a budget gimmick to get around the sequester cuts imposed by the Republican budget strategy. 

I am proud to cosponsor a bill to raise the federal minimum wage to $12 an hour by 2020. 

I want to thank the National Endowment for Democracy for hosting today’s event, which I hope will result in some meaningful discussions not only about the current state of affairs in Russia but also the universal strength of freedom and democracy. 

I was proud to sign a discharge petition today that would force a vote on the Promoting U.S. Jobs Through Exports Act, which would reform and reauthorize the Export-Import Bank for an additional seven years.
