Thank you, thank you so much. Thank you all for being here. Thank you for beating the drum…. You are here to redeem the DREAM, to redeem the promise of America that opens its door, lifts its lamp, and is the hope of much of the world. 
My name is Steny Hoyer and 750,000 Americans have sent me here to raise their voice. Equal justice under the law, equal, the same, Jefferson said it, not as inclusively as he should have, but so inclusively for his time, way ahead of his time, we hold these truths to be self-evident that all men and all women, he didn’t say women but he should have, are created equal. Not by the constitution, not by the majority vote, but by God he said, with equal rights for all.
Thank you very much, Leader. Every Republican Leader in the House and in the Senate, for years, has been saying the debt is a, the biggest problem confronting our country.
I am disappointed that the Supreme Court has decided to let the President’s Muslim Ban stand while various lower courts have ruled against keys aspects of his order.
America is not America without its great outdoor spaces, its national parks, and historic monuments that Congress and past presidents have preserved for the benefit of generations to come. 
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after Rep. Sandy Levin (MI-09) announced he would not run for re-election: 
In the middle of the night, Senate Republicans passed a bill that is a case study in hypocrisy and broken promises.  Contrary to their claims that it would benefit the middle-class, this bill would raise taxes on 82 million middle-class households and kick 13 million Americans off their health care coverage.
Today’s report from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center is now the second independent analysis in as many days demonstrating that Republican claims that their tax plan would ‘add rocket fuel’ to economic growth are dead flat wrong. 
This year, as we mark World AIDS Day, let us remember the lives of those lost to HIV/AIDS and recommit ourselves to the critical work of finding new treatments and a cure. 
This morning, Michael Flynn stood in a court of law and admitted to lying to federal investigators about communications he had with the Russian government during his time as President Trump’s National Security Advisor.
