I am disappointed that this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) does not include a comprehensive set of provisions to protect communities affected by PFAS chemicals.
I am glad that the NDAA conferees have agreed to include twelve weeks of paid parental leave for all federal employees starting in October of next year.  Earlier, when it appeared that conferees were going to extend this benefit to Department of Defense employees only, I sent a letter urging that all federal employees be covered by it.
With the release of the Department of Justice Inspector General’s report today, we now know with certainty that the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Russia investigation was not politically motivated, nor did it plant anyone inside the campaign to gather information on President Trump.
Economy Weekly: Week of December 2, 2019
While the jobs report reflects continued steady employment gains that reach back more than nine years, well into the Obama presidency, slowed wage growth shows the failure of this Administration and its policies to expand on those gains to benefit working Americans.  We must do better.
The House has now heard overwhelming evidence presented to the Intelligence Committee regarding the facts of the President’s actions – which have not been rebutted with any contrary facts - and we heard testimony yesterday in the Judiciary Committee from constitutional experts on the grounds for impeachment.
The Judiciary Committee is considering the facts, which have been presented to them by various different committees – the Intelligence Committee, the Oversight Committee, and other committees as well… Republicans… are pounding on the table, not on the facts or the law because I don't think either one support their position.
Next week, the House of Representatives will pass the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act.
For years, Republicans have pushed to make life harder for everyday families living on the brink.  This latest Trump Administration rule is yet another mean-spirited attempt to block critical nutrition assistance for low-income people across the country.
Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), House Oversight and Reform Subcommittee on Government Operations Chairman Gerald E. Connolly (VA-11), and Representatives Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC-AL), John Sarbanes (MD-03), Don Beyer (VA-08), Anthony Brown (MD-04), Jamie Raskin (MD-08), David Trone (MD-06), and Jennifer Wexton (VA-10) sent a letter to the Chairs of the Armed Services Committees, who are leading the conference committee working to reconcile the House- and Senate-passed versions of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
