WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the November jobs report:
“While the jobs report reflects continued steady employment gains that reach back more than nine years, well into the Obama presidency, slowed wage growth shows the failure of this Administration and its policies to expand on those gains to benefit working Americans. We must do better.
“House Democrats are determined not to allow the Trump Administration or Congressional Republicans to limit our economic progress, which is why we have pursued a steady program of legislation aimed at broadening access to opportunity, making our economy more competitive, and helping workers and entrepreneurs get ahead. It’s why we passed legislation to raise wages and close the gender pay gap. It’s why we are bringing legislation to the Floor next week to lower health care costs by addressing prescription drug prices. We will continue to do everything in our power to achieve these goals, even while President Trump and his Senate allies block our legislation and put partisanship in the way of progress.”
