I am horrified by the images of destruction in California and by the terrible loss of life. 
I am appalled by the Trump Administration's decision to implement an unprecedented expansion of religious exemptions that can be used to discriminate on the basis of sexual identity.
Today we are witnessing the consequences of putting in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency someone who does not believe in the agency’s core mission and has spent his career seeking to undermine environmental protection.
With today’s decision, it becomes even clearer that President Trump believes that women’s access to affordable contraception should be a decision not for her but for her employer. 
While much of the loss of 40,000 private sector jobs last month can be attributed to the recent hurricanes that devastated parts of Texas, Florida, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, the end of a record streak of eighty-eight months of private sector job growth clearly shows the fragility of our economy.
