I’m encouraged that President Trump has appointed Jerome H. Powell to chair the Federal Reserve.

Obviously, they don’t have the votes for their bill right now. 

This White House cannot continue to ignore statutory requests from the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to produce documents. 

It is clear from the outset that the Republican bill to cut taxes for the wealthy and increase deficits by as much as $1.5 trillion – while eliminating many tax preferences that middle-class families rely on – will face serious hurdles in Congress. 

I just returned from a visit to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands along with Reps. Norma Torres and Anthony Brown as well as Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, and two of his colleagues. 

Today, House Republicans released the legislative schedule for 2018.

The advantage of being a little older than some others is that you remember what was, and you pledge to not repeat that which was bad, when it was.

Mr. Chairman and Members of the Committee, because no outside witnesses are being allowed to testify today, I am pleased to submit written testimony in opposition to the nomination of former Rep. Scott Garrett to be President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States.  I ask that this statement be included as part of the record for today’s hearing.
