House Democrats have been asking Republicans to work with us on bipartisan budget negotiations for months. Now, just days away from another GOP shutdown, Republicans still have no plan to ensure the government stays open. Unfortunately, a look at today’s news shows some Members are completely content with taking irresponsible action even at the expense of their own party and the American people:

Following General Electric’s announcement that it will be moving 500 U.S. jobs overseas thanks to Republicans’ ideological shutdown of the Export-Import Bank, business groups across the country are calling on Republicans to reopen the Export-Import Bank before it costs more U.S. jobs and harms our economy:
Wanted to be sure you saw today’s op-ed by Chamber of Commerce CEO Tom Donohue highlighting how the Export-Import Bank assists small, medium, and large businesses and what’s at stake if House Republicans refuse to reopen it.
The extreme wing of the Republican Party is once again holding the government hostage to their demands – this time, over defunding Planned Parenthood. We aren’t the only ones who disagree with their effort. Senate Majority Leader McConnell has called the threat an “exercise in futility.” And just now, Rep.
As the House returns to session today, Republican leaders still don’t have a plan to avert another costly and harmful GOP shutdown. Will Speaker Boehner be able to mollify another “rank-and-file uprising” in his own party so that the House can do what’s best for the American people by keeping the government open?
