Republican Outrages

Related

With the 115th Congress beginning this week and the President-Elect’s inauguration taking place in two weeks, Republicans have a responsibility to govern and get things done for the American people.

Once again, Republicans are falling short on their promises to support job creation. Not only will their effort to repeal the ACA without a replacement #MakeAmericaSickAgain, but a new report shows that it will also cost millions of jobs.

From CNBC:

These couldn’t have been the headlines that House GOP leaders had hoped for on day one of the 115th Congress:

Politico: House GOP reverses course on gutting ethics panel

Following a public outcry…  House Republicans reversed course Tuesday on a proposal to gut their own ethics watchdog.”

Eliminating the independence of the Office of Congressional Ethics, as House Republicans proposed to do without notice or debate, would have been a dangerous and ill-conceived move.

I am deeply concerned by House Republicans’ decision in the dead of night to strip away the independence of the Office of Congressional Ethics.

Wanted to be sure you saw today's op-ed by Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD), on CNN.com on Republicans' plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act.  Today is the deadline to sign up for coverage through the health insurance marketplaces in order to  be insured starting on January 1, 2017.

WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today:

"I am alarmed by the questionnaire sent by the Trump transition team to the Department of Energy seeking the names of career civil servants who have worked on climate change policy.

Repealing the Affordable Care Act – as Republican leaders in Congress have committed to doing in January of next year – would be a disaster for our country.

Today’s report reiterates what has already been clearly demonstrated: Republicans’ Select Investigative Panel to attack women’s health has wasted more than $1.5 million in taxpayer money and countless hours of Congress’s time trying to manufacture a controversy that does not exist.

It is shameful that House Republicans would continue to waste taxpayer money on their partisan witch-hunt, whose clear goal has been to yield political gains for Republicans.
