Since its founding, the Congressional Black Caucus has been the conscience of the Congress when it comes to ending economic disparities and making access to opportunity equal for all. 

Paul Ryan has been a faithful public servant for Wisconsin and for our country.

Nearly every week this year, a community has been impacted by a school shooting, and I am appalled and angered that one occurred in my district at Great Mills High School in St. Mary’s County, Maryland on Tuesday.

I was deeply saddened to learn the news this morning of Louise’s passing.

Today, I stood with thousands of students from the Washington area who walked out and marched for safer schools and action to prevent gun violence. 

Good evening. I’m so honored to be here with all of you to pay tribute to the legacy of my friend Ed Roybal and his life of public service.  

The proposals unveiled by the White House today reflect the mistaken view that this is only a problem affecting schools and that arming teachers is an acceptable solution.

[Democrats] have been trying to get comprehensive background checks which the overwhelming majority, 97% of the public supports taking steps so everybody has a background check and we can preclude those who are criminals, multiple misdemeanor offenders, people on the terrorist watch list, people with mental health problems from getting guns
