This evening, the House is considering a series of important bills that will help combat the scourge of human trafficking. 

There is no more fundamental right that Americans have than the right to vote, and today’s hearing by the Committee on House Administration to review the recommendations of the bipartisan Presidential Commission on Election Administration was an important step toward ensuring that this basic right is never denied.

“Full-service community schools are a critical tool in the effort to close the achievement gap and ensure that we are graduating students who are college and career-ready,” stated Whip Hoyer.

I am disappointed that the House failed to pass Rep. Eric Swalwell’s bill to secure critical minerals used in the production of energy efficient products, renewable energy systems, electronics, and other technologies. 

I congratulate Rep. Brad Schneider of Illinois for his hard work bringing the Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Act to the Floor today, and I was pleased to vote for its passage.

I disagree with today’s D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that the federal government cannot provide subsidies to qualifying enrollees in the federally run health insurance marketplace.

Last month, President Obama announced that he would be using his executive authority to prevent federal contractors from discriminating against LGBT workers in both hiring and employment, and today he has fulfilled that promise.
