It is the first time [Congress has sued the President]. It will be an unprecedented action if, in fact, the Congress sues the President.

The American people are distressed and angry and disappointed with the Congress of the United States.

I am disappointed that a handful of Republican Senators have blocked the Bring Jobs Home Act from moving forward in that chamber, in spite of it securing a majority of votes.  

Today, House Republicans are bringing to the Floor a resolution authorizing a lawsuit against the President, an unprecedented action, which many Republicans think is wasting time.

It is welcome news this morning that our economy grew much more than expected following slowed growth in the first quarter of the year, showing the continued resilience of our workforce, entrepreneurs, and consumers. 

President Obama made an excellent choice in appointing Alejandro Pérez as the next Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, the White House’s chief liaison to the House of Representatives. 

Since helping to broker the agreement that led to South Sudan’s independence in 2011, the United States has been committed to helping the world’s newest state build democratic institutions and pursue peaceful economic development.

In announcing expanded sanctions today against Russian President Vladimir Putin and his chief backers - Russia's largest banks, a major defense contractor, and the country's oil industry - the Administration is sending a clear message that Russia will continue to face consequences unless it ceases its interference in Ukraine's sovereign affairs and works with the international community to promote an end to the bloodshed

Today’s announcement that 8.2 million seniors and Americans with disabilities caught in the Medicare Part D ‘donut hole’ have now saved more than $11.5 billion on prescription drugs since 2010 is further proof that the Affordable Care Act is working as intended to help seniors save money and see their benefits improved.  

It is a serious time in which we meet. It is a time when history will record that we had the resolve to prevail, or we did not.
