Well, the Majority Leader just said that we are going to be having further votes, which is good.

I join in thanking Doug Elmendorf for his service as Director of the Congressional Budget Office, and I congratulate Keith Hall on being appointed as his successor.  

The Senate has sent us a bill, 68-31, over two-thirds of the Senate, which is the bill that the Republicans agreed to out of the Appropriations Committee in December. 

The fact of the matter is the CR gives very limited funding ability to the [Department of Homeland Security]. Jeh Johnson, the Secretary [of DHS] has made it very clear this is undermining their ability to act now.

When Congress provided for home rule for the District of Columbia more than forty years ago, the objective was to provide residents of our nation’s capital the ability to govern their own local affairs, just as Americans in every other state, county, and municipality do.

I appreciate this opportunity to talk about how the budget resolution for Fiscal Year 2016 ought to guide our country in the direction of growth that is felt broadly, expanded opportunity, and a more competitive economy not just for today but for generations to come

I was proud to join Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Maxine Waters, Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee Ranking Member Gwen Moore, and Rep. Denny Heck in introducing a seven-year reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. Businesses across the country benefit from the support they receive from the Bank, which helps them access and compete in overseas markets.

The Republicans pledged to America that they would not join together very controversial issues with non-controversial issues.
