WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after H.R. 1031, Promoting U.S. Jobs through Exports Act of 2015, was introduced last night with Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-CA), Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee Ranking Member Gwen Moore (D-WI), and Rep. Denny Heck (D-WA):

“I was proud to join Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Maxine Waters, Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee Ranking Member Gwen Moore, and Rep. Denny Heck in introducing a seven-year reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. Businesses across the country benefit from the support they receive from the Bank, which helps them access and compete in overseas markets. With the help of the Bank, businesses increase their exports overseas, which enables them to create more jobs here at home.

“The bill introduced last night will give the business community the certainty they need, while also increasing the Bank’s lending authority so more of our nation’s manufacturers can receive help boosting their exports. This is an issue on which Democrats and Republicans can work together to help America’s private sector create good jobs that open doors of opportunity to the middle class.  I look forward to working with Ranking Member Waters, Ranking Member Moore, and Rep. Heck to advance this legislation well in advance of the deadline for reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank this June.”
