Things on the rise this summer: the temperature and opposition to TrumpCare. In a new Politico/Morning Consult poll, only 35 percent of voters approve of the House TrumpCare bill, which doesn’t bode well for Senate Republicans as they prepare to release their bill tomorrow (after weeks of hiding it behind closed doors). Another day, another poll showing the majority of Americans oppose President Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement. Not only are Americans worried about the adverse consequences of climate change (contrary to his Energy Secretary's latest comments) and how Trump’s decision undermines our nation’s credibility, but the majority of the public also believes the decision is bad for our economy.

A look at this morning’s previews of Speaker Ryan’s “major speech” on tax reform shows it will be light on specifics and substance. Sounds kind of like a certain one-page proposal a certain President released…

Republicans blew past their April 15 deadline months ago, and they are still haven’t proposed a budget for fiscal year 2018. What’s holding them up? Their deep internal divisions, of course. Republicans didn’t pass a budget last year, and prospects are starting to dim this year as their conference continues to feud among themselves. It’s not looking great for the former Budget Committee Chairman turned Speaker, and Republicans control all levers of government so they only have themselves to blame.
