WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement in support of overriding the President's veto of the Labor-Health-Education Appropriations bill:
 
"Mr.

WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the House passed the Fiscal Year 2008 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Conference Report by a vote of 270 to 147.  The Administration said today that the President intends to veto the bill:
Predatory Lending, FISA, Labor-HHS
Today the House passed legislation protecting 23 million American families from the Alternative Minimum Tax, and providing middle-class tax relief to millions more.
The President's veto of this critical legislation that addresses domestic priorities such as health care, education, and medical research is the clearest possible demonstration of his misguided priorities and hollow rhetoric on fiscal responsibility.
