Today, House Judiciary Committee Republicans blocked resolutions of inquiry from coming to the Floor that would have shed light on connections between President Trump, his advisors, and Russia's efforts to undermine our election.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the deaths of American U.N. worker Michael Sharp and his Swedish colleague Zaida Catalan in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Wanted to be sure you saw Republicans in both chambers are joining Democrats in calling on Chairman Nunes’ to recuse himself from the House Intelligence Committee investigation on Russia. These Republicans agree that Rep. Nunes no longer has credibility, which underscores the need for an independent commission. Take a look at what they had to say:

Last Monday, FBI Director Comey confirmed that the Trump campaign has been under investigation since July over potential collusion with the Putin regime.

The violent suppression of peaceful protests in Russia reflect the deep morass into which Vladimir Putin's Russia has fallen.

This week, Republicans were so deeply divided over their TrumpCare bill, that they lacked the votes to pass it and leaders were forced to pull the bill from the Floor.

Clearly, Chairman Nunes and the Trump White House are scared of what the public might learn, and by canceling a public hearing on Russian involvement in the election they are denying the American people the full scope of information that might come forward.

Well, the bill keeps getting worse and worse and, of course, the deficit reduction the Republicans were claiming has now been halved by the changes they made.

Today’s actions and statements were inconsistent with Chairman Nunes's obligations to the Intelligence Committee, to the House of Representatives, and, by extension, to the American people.

Every day now, it seems, we are learning more about ties between Donald Trump and Russia.
