Their Words, Not Ours.
Wanted to be sure you saw Republicans in both chambers are joining Democrats in calling on Chairman Nunes’ to recuse himself from the House Intelligence Committee investigation on Russia. These Republicans agree that Rep. Nunes no longer has credibility, which underscores the need for an independent commission. Take a look at what they had to say:
Representative Walter Jones (R-NC): “How can you be chairman of a major committee and do all these things behind the scenes and keep your credibility? You can't keep your credibility!” [The Hill, 3/28/17]
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC): “If he’s not willing to tell the Democrats and Republicans on the committee who he met with and what he was told, then I think he's lost his ability to lead… Well I think he put his objectivity in question at the very least..” [The Hill, 3/28/17]
Senator John McCain (R-AZ): “I think there needs to be a lot of explaining to do…I’ve been around for quite a while, and I’ve never heard of any such thing. Obviously, on a committee like an intelligence committee, you’ve got to have bipartisanship; otherwise, the committee loses credibility. And there’s so much out there that needs to be explained by the chairman.” [Politico, 3/28/17]
