Over the past several months, the COVID-19 pandemic has been accompanied by an insidious disease of another nature: racism targeted at Asian Americans.  That’s why it was so important that the House passed a resolution today strongly condemning all forms of anti-Asian sentiment as it relates to the pandemic.
WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today to recognize the start of Hispanic Heritage Month:
I look forward to bringing the Clean Energy Jobs and Innovation Act to the Floor next week, which fulfills House Democrats’ promise to invest in the creation of high-paying jobs by making America a global leader in clean energy.  Our climate is changing, and we not only need to take dramatic steps to slow the carbon pollution that has driven this climate crisis but we must also seize the economic opportunities that this challenge presents.
These whistleblower allegations, if confirmed, would reveal one of the most stunning and horrendous violations of human rights at the hands of an American administration in modern history.  We have already seen reports that conditions in these immigration detention facilities are unsanitary and that detainees lack access to even basic human and medical needs, including reports of toxic pesticides being used on detainees.
Today's signing of peace agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain is a historic moment, which represents the culmination of decades of work by Democratic and Republican administrations and by countless American diplomats working tirelessly behind the scenes.
I join in thanking Tom Wickham for his service as House Parliamentarian. He is a true expert on House rules and Parliamentary procedure; he always gives his advice thoughtfully, and often with equal parts historical background and humor.
I applaud Israel’s success in securing normalized relations with Bahrain. Peace with Arab states has been Israel’s aim since its founding, and it has remained a major American foreign policy goal.
Nineteen years ago, Americans endured the horrors of an unprecedented terrorist attack on our country.  As we mark this somber anniversary, we remember those lost and offer our comfort to the families who still mourn.
It has been more than three months since the Democratic-led House took action on the next phase of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, passing the Heroes Act to provide state and local governments with much-needed resources, extend emergency unemployment benefits for those waiting to get back to work, and provide a new round of direct payments to American families to help them get through this crisis.
It is outrageous that the Trump Administration continues to advantage Russia and try to hide Russian malign activities targeting our democracy.
