I was saddened to learn of the passing of my friend Walter Jones. We may have stood on opposite sides of the aisle in the House, but I always respected him for his amiability, his candor, and his love of country.

Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned whenever it is encountered, without exception.

Acting Chief of Staff Mulvaney’s comments this morning were irresponsible and alarming. Instead of threatening another unnecessary and dangerous government shutdown, the Trump Administration ought to reassure federal employees, their families, and the millions of Americans they serve that another shutdown is off the table.

House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) visited Texas and New Mexico on Saturday with Congresswomen Veronica Escobar (TX-16), Xochitl Torres Small (NM-02), Deb Haaland (NM-01), and Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05). 

John Dingell was my friend.  He was a man of indefatigable spirit who loved life, the lovely Deborah his wife, and the House of Representatives. 

One week before the anniversary of the tragic shooting at Majority Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) met with Stand with Parkland, a national organization founded by families of students and teachers killed in the shooting. 

In his State of the Union address tonight, President Trump failed to obscure the reality of a presidency lacking in leadership and harmful to America’s future. 

Talking about greatness and reaching greatness are two different things, and cooperation is necessary to accomplish that objective. And we haven't seen that the last two years, very frankly, Bret.
