House Republicans continue to waste time on political messaging bills that will not become law and do not help the American people. This week, House Republicans are taking a page out of the 112th Congress’ playbook and are voting for the 37th time to repeal the Affordable Care Act, a vote that would take away important patient protections from millions of Americans.

This week, House Republicans passed their “Pay China First” bill that places our nation at risk of defaulting on our obligations. This partisan bill mandates paying China and other holders of our debt before our other legal obligations, including paying our troops, veterans benefits, and seniors’ health care.

This Saturday marks the third anniversary of the Affordable Care Act being signed into law. As we recognize the millions of Americans that are receiving more accessible and affordable care as a result of this law, I am disappointed that Republicans continued their attacks against this law, upheld by the Supreme Court, by repealing it in their budget.

Earlier this week, House Republicans unveiled their budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2014. Unfortunately, their budget contained many of the same disappointments and rejected policies from previous years.
We shouldn’t be surprised. According to POLITICO, despite Republicans’ support of the sequester, it turns out they don’t like these cuts when it impacts their districts:
