“The Chamber opposes any amendments related to the Bank because such amendments would only detract from, or run counter to, the goal of reauthorizing the Bank.”
As a result of our strongly unified effort, House Democrats earned a major victory for American businesses and workers last week by discharging and passing the Export-Import Bank reauthorization bill (H.R. 597) with a bipartisan vote of 313-118.

Below is a transcript of his remarks:
This evening, 313 Members of the House - virtually every Democrat and a majority of Republicans - joined together in a vote to reopen the Export-Import Bank and help American exporters create good jobs here in our country.
The American public ought to know that 147 Republicans voted to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank just a few years ago under the leadership of [former Majority Leader] Mr. Cantor and myself.
Since July, businesses and workers have been asking Congress to reopen the Export-Import Bank so that they could compete on a level playing field in overseas markets.
Today, Members in the House will begin the process of forcing a vote to reopen the Export-Import Bank after House Republicans shut it down this summer, putting thousands of U.S. jobs and America’s economic competitiveness at risk.
