As the August District Work Period begins, House Republicans have little to tout back home in their districts.

As the House begins the August District Work Period, House Republicans are back in their districts after seven months in session with effectively no legislative accomplishments to show for it.

…Ladies and gentlemen, the United States Senate is now considering what is called a skinny bill on the Affordable Care Act.

House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer today joined Ranking Member Gwen Moore of the Financial Services Monetary Policy and Trade Subcommittee and Rep. Denny Heck in authoring a letter to President Trump expressing their opposition to the nomination of former Rep. Scott Garrett to serve as Chairman of the Board of the Export-Import Bank.

There are only five legislative days before the August district work period and what do House Republicans have to show for the last seven months? Not much. And press is taking note:

Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House, and they have a responsibility to govern and deliver results for the American people. Yet, over halfway through the year, Republicans have no major legislative accomplishments.

Today, Democrats and Republicans in the House came together to pass legislation supporting the work of our men and women in uniform.

I’m continuing to have conversations with my Republican colleagues regarding the Russia sanctions bill.

Another day, another set of headlines about the GOP in disarray and stalling their own agenda, from TrumpCare to a budget to a range of issues…
