Congress

This morning, after Congress unanimously demanded its release, the American people were finally able to see the whistleblower complaint regarding the President’s actions with respect to Ukraine.
I fully support Congress moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry. I have grave concerns about the President’s troubling admission that he sought Ukrainian interference in the 2020 election, undermining America’s national security.
Madam Chair, thank you very much. Madam Mayor, Chairman [Phil] Mendelson, and others who are here at the table, thank you very much for your presence. I want to thank the Chairman Cummings and Ranking Member Jordan and certainly [Congresswoman] Eleanor Holmes Norton, my colleague and very close friend who has been a champion of this for her entire life as well as her career in Congress of the United States.
I want to congratulate the members of the Appropriations Committee. I know there wasn't always agreement. I’m hopeful, as we go forward, we can reach agreement on the individual bills or the minibus or omnibus that we will ultimately fund government in a timely fashion… Mr. Speaker, I am also proud of the fact that we funded 96 percent of the government through this House prior to June 30 of this year. That has not been done in over a decade
I thought the question was in regards to whether the full House is actively considering articles of impeachment, which we are not at this time. The investigations by six different House Committees into the widespread dishonesty, abuses of power, and corruption in the Trump Administration are ongoing.
President Trump ought to be broadly and strongly condemned for suggesting that American Jews or any group could be considered disloyal to our country if they do not vote for Republicans or for this president.
I remain deeply disappointed that the Israeli government reversed the policy announced by Ambassador Ron Dermer that ‘out of respect for the U.S. Congress and the great alliance between Israel and America, we would not deny entry to any Member of Congress into Israel.
The decision of the Israeli government to deny entry to Israel by two Members of Congress is outrageous, regardless of their itinerary.  This action is contrary to the statement and assurances to me by Israel’s ambassador to the United States that ‘out of respect for the U.S. Congress and the great alliance between Israel and America, we would not deny entry to any Member of Congress into Israel.’  That representation was not true.
I am pleased to join so many House Democrats in traveling to Israel to reaffirm our support for a critical U.S. ally and to continue learning about the opportunities and the challenges facing Israel and the Middle East.
Since taking the Majority, Democrats have made significant progress on the For The People agenda, acting to protect and expand affordable health care, lower the cost of prescription drugs, raise wages, ensure more people have the training and skills needed to make it in America, and clean up corruption in Washington.
