WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) joined House Administration Committee Chairman Bob Ney (R-OH) today to call on Congress and President Bush to support full funding for the 2002 Help America Vote Act. The next national election is only 369 days away, yet states still lack the funds to implement essential reform initiatives. The following is Rep. Hoyer’s statement as prepared for delivery:
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) lauded the passage tonight of a Motion to Recommit the FAA Reauthorization Act to the conference committee as a clear rebuke to the Republican leadership, which fundamentally altered the legislation in conference after it passed the House 418-8 and the Senate 94-0 in June.

WASHINGTON - House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (MD) and Congressman Frank Wolf announced today that they will offer an amendment during the 2004 Transportation, Treasury Appropriations Conference that would prohibit the use of appropriated funds to implement the Office of Personnel Management's proposed regulations affecting the deployment of Executive Branch detailees to the legislative branch. Hoyer and Wolf’s amendment states that no federal funds may be used to implement, administer, or enforce the proposed rule of the Office of Personnel Management relating to the detailing of executive branch employees to the legislative branch.
