I join in congratulating Rep. Cedric Richmond on his election as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) for the 115th Congress, as well as Vice Chairs Andre Carson and Karen Bass, Secretary Brenda Lawrence, and Whip Gwen Moore.

Millions more people voted for the agenda that this leadership group represents—millions.

I am deeply honored by the trust my colleagues have placed in me to serve as Democratic Whip for the 115th Congress and I look forward to working with the full Caucus to stand up for the plurality of Americans who did not vote for Donald Trump or his agenda.

The nominations of Steven Mnuchin as Treasury Secretary and Wilbur Ross as Commerce Secretary reveal an incoming administration that is seriously out of touch with working Americans.

Today, House Republicans released the legislative schedule for 2017.

I want to thank my friend Rep. Sandy Levin for his service as Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Committee and, previously, as its Chair.

I strongly support today’s bipartisan resolution reaffirming that the only way to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is through direct, bilateral negotiations between the parties.

I am deeply concerned by Majority Leader McCarthy’s remarks today that Republicans intend to repeal the Affordable Care Act and take health coverage away from 20 million Americans without having a plan to replace the law.

The nomination of Chairman Tom Price to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services raises red flags.

I am very disappointed by this ruling, which is a blow to working families across our country, who deserve to see their hard work translate into higher incomes and greater opportunity.
