I’m proud to join Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security Ranking Member Zoe Lofgren, Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers, and more than 160 House Democrats as a cosponsor of legislation to end the Trump Administration’s dangerous Muslim ban.  

Today’s assertion by the White House press secretary that career foreign service officers who disagree with the new administration ought to ‘get with the program or they can go,’ is a deeply disturbing statement that runs counter to our more than century-old tradition of a nonpartisan foreign service. 

The executive order President Trump signed on Friday makes our country less safe and emboldens terrorist groups like ISIS. 

President Trump’s reorganization of the National Security Council weakens our security and puts Americans’ safety and the safety of our troops at risk.  

Today’s executive order putting in place new vetting measures – clearly an attempt to ban Muslims from our nation – is shameful and flies in the face of America’s role as a shining beacon of hope to those seeking freedom and asylum. 

Today, people across the world observe International Holocaust Remembrance Day, remembering the 11 million innocent civilians who perished at the hands of the Nazis.  

It’s one thing for Republicans to seek to take away health coverage from tens of millions of Americans; it’s another to sabotage the existing health system while it is serving American families.  

Well, thank you very much, Chair [Michelle] Lujan Grisham, I am very pleased to join you. Once again the President is charging ahead and not giving time either for thought, criticism, or input from American citizens. 

Yesterday, President Trump issued an Executive Order. He imposed a hiring freeze on the federal workforce. 

Today’s report on the budget outlook by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office shows that while the actions taken during the Obama Administration are having a positive short-term impact on deficits, our long-term fiscal challenges remain.
