With today’s passage of the SHIELD Act, House Republicans had yet another opportunity to join House Democrats in voting to protect our country against foreign interference. It is shameful that they refused to do so, just like they have refused to answer the pressing question facing the country: is it acceptable for a president to encourage foreign interference in our elections? 
Today, the House passed Rep. Maloney’s reauthorization of the Debbie Smith Act, which helps states and local authorities end the backlog of untested rape kits and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice before they can victimize others.
Just as I opposed the President’s disastrous decision to withdraw troops from Northern Syria, I strongly disagree with the President’s ill-advised announcement that he is lifting sanctions on Turkey.
As a result of President Trump’s reckless and impulsive decision to withdraw from Syria and abandon our allies, Russia has now solidified its hold over that country and expanded its power and influence in the Middle East.
Today, the House Committee on Ways and Means completed its markup of H.R. 3, House Democrats’ legislation to lower prescription drug prices. 
I was proud to bring Rep. Maloney’s Corporate Transparency Act to the Floor for a vote today in order to crack down on money laundering activities by Russian oligarchs and other bad actors. 
The resolution pushed today by House Republicans is nothing more than an attempt to distract the American people from their refusal to answer the question confronting our nation: is it acceptable for a President to openly seek foreign help for his re-election and put his own private interests ahead of our country’s interests and our national security?
I think the Turks are right. They got exactly what they wanted. And very frankly, probably, the Iranians got what they wanted. Perhaps the Syrians got what they wanted – getting ISIS out of their territory, and now they’ve got the Turks there.
The Majority Leader’s Office is now sending a weekly e-mail highlighting economic statistics and news that Members can use as they discuss the state of the economy and how House Democrats are working to spur economic growth, support job creation, and raise wages for the people.
 
Today, House Democrats took a step forward in our effort to lower prescription drug costs for the American people as the Energy and Commerce and the Education and Labor Committees marked up H.R. 3, and the Ways and Means Committee held a hearing on it.
