As GOP leadership continues to refuse to put a bill on the Floor to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank before the June 30 deadline, we wanted to make sure you saw that Chairman Hensarling’s own witness at the Financial Services Committee hearing last week, Rachael Cox, doesn’t even agree with his position that the Ex-Im Bank should close. Here’s a look at her warning for Ex-Im opponents after they attempted to characterize her testimony inaccurately:

We wanted to be sure you saw the latest effort from business community leaders urging Republican leaders to schedule a vote on reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank:

PRESS STAFF BLOG:

Majority Leader McCarthy claims in his memo outlining the House Floor schedule for the month of June that House Republicans want to “preserve American interests abroad, grow our economy, and increase commerce.” Well that's interesting, because the bill that would help accomplish all of those objectives is nowhere to be found on his list. Which bill is that? A long-term reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank. As a reminder, the Ex-Im Bank:

As the June 30 deadline for reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank nears, House Republican leaders continue to cater to the far-right wing of their party instead of the American business owners they represent, who receive export financing assistance that helps them compete with businesses overseas. We hope conservatives will end their misguided, ideological crusade against the Bank and heed the advice of their Republican colleagues from South Carolina, Senator Lindsey Graham and Representative Joe Wilson:

Wanted to be sure you saw today’s column by General James L. Jones – former National Security Advisor, supreme allied commander Europe, and commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps – in USA Today with some choice words for Ex-Im Bank opponents on why we need to reauthorize the Bank’s charter before it expires on June 30. Here’s a look at key excerpts:

Wanted to be sure you saw today’s Republican quote of the day – from none other than Speaker John Boehner –  highlighting the critical role the Export-Import Bank plays in strengthening our national economy and creating jobs for hardworking Americans. We hope this means he’ll let the House work its will on this issue and bring a bill to reauthorize the Bank’s charter to the Floor for a vote:

With the Export-Import Bank set to expire on June 30, the pressure to reauthorize the Bank – and protect the hundreds of thousands of jobs it supports – continues to grow. However, it doesn’t seem as if House Republican leaders are fazed by the impending deadline – and in fact, they’re ready to let it pass without action:

Happy Friday! For your amusement, we thought we'd pass along the following graphic House Republicans recently released:

PRESS STAFF BLOG:

Yesterday, House Republicans unveiled their 2016 budget resolution, filled with the same partisan rhetoric and gimmicks we’ve come to expect from the GOP. Instead of making the tough choices needed to invest in our economy and expand middle-class opportunities, Republicans have chosen to continue the sequester this year for domestic spending, before dramatically cutting even farther below this already unrealistic level – while breaking the caps on defense. They’re also imposing the burden of deficit reduction on the most vulnerable, low-income American households.
