Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today applauding the decision by Congress to stop the White House from closing down 68 taxpayer assistance centers. The provision protecting the centers was included in the FY 2006 Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Conference Report. The House passed the conference report today.
