Another day, another story on the  negative impact of the sequester. In today’s case, two stories. First, the Washington Post details how children across the country are being disadvantaged by cuts to Head Start:

“I am pleased that President Obama will appoint Susan Rice as his next National Security Advisor. 

"We are deeply disappointed by today’s verdict at the Cairo Criminal Court, which represents just the latest assault by the Egyptian government on civil society.

House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) and senior House Democrats have sent letters to nine separate U.S. retailers calling upon them to join a broadening global coalition supporting a May 12 Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh, developed by the Worker Rights Consortium and a number of key stakeholders.

In wake of the Rana Plaza building collapse, which killed more than 1,100 people, House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) signed onto a letter to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina strongly urging the Bangladeshi authorities to join in a comprehensive, concrete, and coordinated plan to ensure workers' rights and safety in Bangladesh.
