The Trump Administration’s announcement of its intent to provide a smaller pay adjustment to the federal civilian workforce in 2020 than what House Democrats have proposed is just one more example of how little regard it has for federal civilian employees who work for the American people every day.

This week, the House passed the Federal Civilian Workforce Pay Raise Fairness Act of 2019, which will bring the 2019 cost-of-living adjustment for civilian federal employees in line with the cost-of-living adjustment given to members of the military.

For someone who claims to be a leadership maven, President Trump certainly gives the impression through his actions that he has no idea how to run an effective organization. 

Today, House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip, led 130 of their Democratic Colleagues on a letter opposing President Trump’s May 25 executive orders targeting federal workers. The Trump Administration is already taking action to undermine federal unions, eliminate longstanding protections, and undo existing contracts.

Today’s ruling is a blow to public sector workers and to the American people they serve.
