Foreign interference continues to pose a threat to our democracy and the integrity of our elections, and House Democrats took action once again to address this issue on the House Floor this week.

A warning from the father of the inverted yield curve, Campbell Harvey: “…The curve first inverted briefly in March then turned lower again in May where it has stayed since…Harvey said the curve needs to stay inverted for three months to be reliable, so in this instance the duration means the indicator is ‘flashing code red’ for a recession. ‘It’s not normal. It’s something that foreshadows bad times.”

Republicans want to talk about process, which I say is like a lawyer who has neither the law nor the facts on their side. They want to pound on the table, and that’s what they're doing – pounding on the table…

Much has been said in recent days about our friend Elijah Cummings the man – the kind and gentle soul who, nevertheless, demonstrated a tenacity for justice and a boundless energy to fight for the causes in which he believed.

With today’s passage of the SHIELD Act, House Republicans had yet another opportunity to join House Democrats in voting to protect our country against foreign interference. It is shameful that they refused to do so, just like they have refused to answer the pressing question facing the country: is it acceptable for a president to encourage foreign interference in our elections? 

Today, the House passed Rep. Maloney’s reauthorization of the Debbie Smith Act, which helps states and local authorities end the backlog of untested rape kits and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice before they can victimize others.
