Press Release :
Fifty-five years ago today, President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 into law, bringing to fruition the goals of those who courageously marched with John Lewis in Selma and with Dr. King and so many others to Montgomery earlier that year.
Press Release :
We have people who are desperate... They are desperate for themselves, their families and their children. We passed a bill, unfortunately, the Senate sat on its hands for two and a half plus months.
Press Release :
Wanted to be sure you saw this op-ed by House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) published by TIME Ideas today reflecting on his friendship with his beloved colleague Congressman John Lewis.
Press Release :
For nearly three months, Senate Republicans have obstructed passage of the Heroes Act, critical legislation passed by the House on May 15 that responds to the coronavirus crisis.  While they have failed to provide relief to Americans, this crisis has worsened.
Issue Report :
After weeks of hitting “pause” on coronavirus relief and blocking action on the Heroes Act, Senate Republicans allowed critical assistance for Americans to expire on Friday. Across the country, over 30 million Americans – or one in five workers – have lost enhanced unemployment assistance and an evictions moratorium has expired for tens of millions of Americans.
Press Release :
Last night’s announcement that the 2020 Census will be cut short before its work is done is yet another example of this Administration’s blatant assault on our Constitution and our democracy.  Only six in ten people have been counted so far, and it is critical that the Census record every person living in the country so that taxpayer resources can be distributed equitably and Congressional representation can be fairly apportioned.  This is mandated by our Constitution and set in law.

Dear Colleague:

After eleven weeks of pushing Senate Republicans to take up the Heroes Act, they have left town without reaching agreement on COVID-19 legislation.  As I said on the Floor today, we will not start the August District Work Period until the Senate agrees to necessary COVID-19 relief to meet the health and economic challenges confronting our people that we can then send to the President. I am hopeful that Senate Republicans will reverse course soon and we can reach an agreement that can be quickly enacted.

Press Release :
WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD) sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Steven T.
Press Release :
Eleven weeks since the House passed the Heroes Act, deeply divided Congressional Republicans continue to dissemble and delay in providing coronavirus relief to the American people.
Issue Report :
After hitting “pause” on coronavirus relief, President Trump and Congressional Republicans are about to let enhanced unemployment assistance expire for over 30 million Americans – one in five workers – who are unemployed through no fault of their own.
