We have two legislative days to fund the government, and instead of working to meet this basic responsibility of governing, President Trump is cheering on a shut down:  

"We’ll do a shutdown and it’s worth it for our country. I’d love to see a shutdown.”

Republicans argue that Americans will see the impact of their GOP tax scam law this month (deleted tweets aside)— they’re right, but not for the reasons they would hope. This weekend’s Washington Post highlights how the Trump Administration is on track to borrow nearly $1 trillion this year – the highest amount of borrowing in six years – due to the GOP tax law.

Editorial boards have some harsh criticism for Republicans today regarding their egregious efforts to undermine rule of law in order to protect the President. Take a look at this morning’s editorials:
 

 It’s clear that President Trump expects loyalty above all else, including justice and the rule of law. And with their effort to release a flawed, misleading memo, it seems Congressional Republicans do too – and are siding with the President over law enforcement and the intelligence community.

Trump-appointed officials of the Department and Justice and FBI have warned against House Republicans releasing a flawed, misleading memo with classified information, and so is Republican Senator John Thune.

Anyone who has doubts about whether House Republicans are using the Nunes Memo as a way to undermine the Russia investigation and protect the President ought to take a look at this report.
