Whip Count
As Senate Republican leaders attempt to jam their latest TrumpCare bill through the Senate, they should probably check in with their Conference. It seems as though not everyone is on board with legislation that the Los Angeles Times says, “would affect health protections for tens of millions Americans yet has been subject to virtually no analysis or public scrutiny.” The latest whip count isn’t looking good for GOP leaders:
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX): “Right now they don't have my vote.”
Senator Susan Collins (R-ME): “It’s very difficult for me to envision a scenario where I would end up voting for this bill…I have a number of serious reservations about it.”
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY): “This is a bad idea.”
Senator John McCain (R-AZ): "I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal.”
