The Two Numbers You Need to Know: 83% and 86 Million

As Republicans wrote their tax bill conference report in secret, we suspected that it was only going to get worse for middle-class families – and we were right. The most recent Tax Policy Center analysis of the conference report shows that last second concessions to get wavering Republicans back on board made the bill even more generous to the wealthiest in America while raising taxes on more middle-class families. Here are the two numbers you need to know:
 

• 83% of the tax breaks go to the top 1% of Americans.
• 86 million middle-class households will see a tax increase, which is more than halfof America’s middle class.
