TrumpCare Fact Check

Since there seems to be some confusion among Republicans about what their latest TrumpCare bill does, we here in the Dem Whip Press Shop thought we’d clear things up for E&C Committee Chair Greg Walden, who told constituents:

“’We’re not going back to the days when they could underwrite you, say, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll cover you, it’ll just be so expensive you can’t afford it’ …That is not a plan I can support.” 

Well, Rep. Walden, that’s exactly what the #TrumpCare bill does. It removes protections for Americans with preexisting conditions so insurers “would be free to charge those patients as much as they wanted.”
