The Speaker’s Commitment to DACA

For any Republican who still believes the Speaker when he asks them to keep waiting to take action because he is going to present a consensus bill that can pass both chambers and be sent to the President, let’s review what’s really happening. The Speaker:
  1. Spent months promising a DACA measure that can be signed into law (but never presented one)
  2. Pushed the Goodlatte bill for a while, but it can’t get 218 votes
  3. Today presented “four pillars” that we already know won’t pass the Senate and therefore will never be signed into law (so that’s not a real effort)
If he really wants to get something done, as he claims, what’s the alternative? How about the discharge petition, which is only three signatures away from 218 and allows votes on multiple bills (including any bill the Speaker wants!)?
