Wanted to make sure you noticed the latest example of President Trump undermining American security and not knowing what’s happening in Congress. After the White House issued a SAP yesterday stating its support for legislation reauthorizing FISA Section 702 and a later statement opposing the Amash amendment, Trump tweeted this morning that he is opposed to the bill. The White House called this a critical national security tool to keep us safe, so Trump contradicted not only himself, but the recommendations of his intelligence leaders, including DNI Dan Coats and CIA Director Mike Pompeo. While we’re sure he will try to walk this back after being told why he’s wrong (a la Leader McCarthy explaining his DACA position to him IN the meeting on Tuesday), the damage is done.
