Republicans Are Trying Again to Jam TrumpCare Through the House
ICYMI, the Rules Committee reported out a rule today that provides for same day rule and suspension authority through this Saturday, the 29th. This will be included in the FOIA rule that the House will vote on tomorrow. Democrats offered an amendment to have this rule apply only to appropriations measures, which Republicans rejected.
So what does that mean? It means that, once again, Republicans are trying to jam their TrumpCare bill through the House. No hearings, no witnesses, no substantive debate, and extremely little time to review the bill.
Why the rush? Oh right. Saturday is Trump’s 100th day. Glad that’s setting the House’s policy agenda.
As a reminder: this is substantively the same bill that Republicans had to pull from the Floor, and there’s no sign they’ve made any changes that would get support from their moderates. Which means that 218 remains as elusive as ever.
