Just the beginning.

Despite poll after poll showing that Americans support reproductive freedom and oppose Republican efforts to criminalize abortion, Senator Lindsay Graham introduced a bill yesterday that would ban abortion care nationwide. This bill is a near-total national abortion ban with few exceptions and would impact millions across America by denying them access to the full range of reproductive health care – and it’s just the beginning.

We’re not even the ones trying to show you Republicans’ true colors. They’re are happy to say it themselves:

“Many abortion opponents still ultimately want the procedure to be banned at conception, with few if any exceptions.”

“A 15-week ban would be ‘the beginning,’ said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America and Students for Life Action, last week as she arrived at the Senate building. Ms. Hawkins said that she has been talking with congressional staff about introducing a federal ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy but called it a ‘work in progress.’”

“‘Everyone here is focused on November,’ she said. ‘We have our plans for January in place, but we’ve got to get to that point first.’” [The New York Times, 9/14/22]
