WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today ahead of the Ways and Means Committee’s markup of a resolution of inquiry to demand President Trump's tax returns:

“Rep. Bill Pascrell's resolution of inquiry seeks to provide a means for the American people to find much-sought and much-deserved answers about Donald Trump's many potential conflicts of interest. Every president for over 40 years has voluntarily issued his tax returns, a tradition of disclosure that ended with President Trump. While it is clear that today’s Ways and Means Committee markup of Rep. Pascrell's resolution is intended to bury it in procedural purgatory, full transparency and disclosure dictate it should immediately be brought to the Floor for a vote so that the American people can see what President Trump has been working so hard to conceal.”
