WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the Trump Administration's proposed rule to restrict funding under Title X:
“Today’s announcement is just the latest step by the Trump Administration to restrict access to women’s health services. Its proposed rule seeks to prevent women from accessing not only information but family planning and health care services more broadly. It is a form of state censorship and intrusion into the relationship between doctors and their patients. Make no mistake: this is yet another effort to defund Planned Parenthood and other providers so that women have fewer and fewer options for accessing a range of health care services.
“I strongly oppose this change and will continue working to defend every woman’s right to make her own health care decisions and her access to the information and services necessary to do so.”
