Hoyer Statement on Today’s Incident at the Capitol Visitor Center

WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today: 

"I want to thank the U.S. Capitol Police for their quick response to today's threat at the U.S. Capitol. The men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police do an extraordinary job protecting our nation's lawmakers, Congressional staff, and all those coming to visit their Representatives. Because of their skill and professionalism, the seat of our democracy can remain safely open and accessible to those it serves. My thoughts and prayers are with the bystander injured today, and I wish them a swift recovery."
