WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the United States Supreme Court announced that it would take up a case on the Affordable Care Act's birth control mandate:

“Women across the country deserve full access to contraceptive care under their health insurance coverage, and I was proud to join an amicus brief supporting the policy under the Affordable Care Act that was, unfortunately, undermined by the Supreme Court in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby in 2014.  I hope the Supreme Court recognizes, in examining this issue, that the Administration’s policy adequately protects religious freedom while ensuring that women who are not afforded contraceptive coverage under employer-provided health plans can still access affordable contraceptive care.”
