Hoyer Statement on Senator John McCain's Opposition to Senate Republicans' TrumpCare Bill
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after Senator John McCain (R-AZ) announced he would vote against Senate Republicans' TrumpCare bill:
“With Senator McCain’s announcement that he opposes the Graham-Cassidy repeal bill, Leader McConnell ought to abandon this last ditch effort to jam TrumpCare through the Senate. This bill is even worse than previous iterations of TrumpCare, kicking 21 million Americans off coverage and increasing costs for millions more, and it is opposed by a wide range of providers, patient and consumer advocates, and insurers. As Senator McCain said in his statement today, we can do better working together. I urge Congressional Republicans and the Trump Administration to give up this repeal and sabotage effort and instead resume bipartisan negotiations to improve the Affordable Care Act and stabilize the marketplace.”
