WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after the Senate Republicans blocked cloture on the Energy Independence and Security Act that passed the House on Thursday:
"I am disappointed that Senate Republicans chose to block consideration of this responsible, bipartisan energy bill this morning. This bill had the support of a wide range of groups, including environmental, business, labor, and farm groups. I remain hopeful that we will be able to work together to pass a bill that focuses on the future and paves the way to a brighter future of energy independence for our nation. I hope to bring such a bill to the House Floor next week."
